Fit4Green releases resources for sustainable sport events
European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the EUSA Institute are proud to announce the release of the legacy resources from the Fit for Green (Fit4Green) project. This milestone also marks a significant step in our organizational commitment to sustainability, transitioning from policy ambition to tangible on-the-ground action.
Aligned with the EUSA Green Policy, the newly released tools - the Fit4Green Manual in Action and the Impact Assessment Report - are designed to help member associations and universities turn grassroots sport into a driver for environmental responsibility. These resources are the result of 18 months of intensive work, co-funded by the European Union and coordinated by the EUSA Institute, proving that youth engagement is key to co-creating greener events.
"Sustainability is a core pillar of EUSA’s strategy," said Andrej Pisl, Director of Projects and Policy at EUSA, also Fit4Green main project coordinator. "With these new resources, we are equipping our network with the practical framework needed to implement our Green Policy. We have demonstrated that when young people are involved in the process, sport events can successfully minimize their environmental footprint while maximizing social impact."
Resources Published:
- Fit4Green Manual in Action: A practical "6-Step Journey" guide for organizers to co-create sustainable events.
- Impact Assessment Report: Evidence-based insights on how sport fosters sustainability competences.
The resources were based on the common finding and actions put in practice at the local campus sports events which were held in the spring of 2025 in Austria, Latvia and Slovenia, and the final conference held in Ljubljana this October.
