Invitation to the International Rowing Regatta St Duje 2026
The city of Split will once again welcome university rowing teams from across Europe and beyond for the XXIV International Rowing Regatta Sveti Duje, taking place from May 8 to 10, 2026.
This traditional event brings together student athletes, rowing legends, and rowing enthusiasts in one of the most recognisable university rowing competitions in the region.
Organised by the University of Split, Split Academic Sport Association, Croatian Rowing Federation, Rowing Association of Dalmatia, Rowing Club Gusar Split, and Croatian Academic Sport Federation, and held under the patronage of the European University Sports Association (EUSA), the regatta combines high-level university sport with the rich maritime and cultural heritage of the Dalmatian coast.

The regatta consists of two main events:
University Eights Race (8+)
University teams from Croatia and abroad will compete on the 1000-meter racing course in Spinut. The competition is open to students under the age of 29 holding a valid student ID and will be conducted according to the rules of the World Rowing Federation (FISA) and the regulations of the University of Split for organizing sports events. Coxswains may be of any gender, age, or student status.
Legends’ Race
A traditional highlight of the regatta will take place in the city harbour, where rowing legends from Split compete against former rowers from University of Oxford and University of Cambridge. The race is held on a 220-meter sprint course, showcasing former athletes who have participated in the historic Boat Race on the River Thames.

The event programme will begin on Friday, May 8, 2026, with the opening ceremony welcoming participating teams and guests. The main University Eights Race will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Spinut racecourse, where university crews will compete on the water. The regatta will conclude on Sunday, May 10, 2026, with the traditional Legends’ Race, held at the Riva in the Port of Split.
Beyond the racing action, participants will have the opportunity to experience the vibrant atmosphere of Split, a historic Adriatic city built around the UNESCO-protected Diocletian’s Palace. The regatta blends competitive sport with cultural and social activities, creating an unforgettable experience for athletes and guests alike.
