EUG 2026 Supervision Commission Visit in Salerno
The University of Salerno, Italy, hosted a Supervision Commission Visit on March 9, 2026, where the local organisers provided updates on their progress in organising the next edition of the European Universities Games in 2026.
The delegation representing the European University Sports Association (EUSA) consisted of President Haris Pavletic, Honorary President Adam Roczek, Secretary General /CEO Matjaz Pecovnik, Treasurer Francis Cirianni, Sport Events Director Liam Smith, Education & Operations Director / COO Sara Rozman, Sports Manager Miha Zvan, and Head of Media & Communications Salvatore Sisca.
The delegation of the EUG 2026 Organising Committee (OC) was led by University of Salerno Rector Virgilio D'Antonio, EUG 2026 General Director Gianluca Basile, Sports Delegate Francesco Paolo Adorno, and CUS Salerno President Lorenzo Lentini, and Secretary General Michele Di Ruocco, who all gave their welcome speeches and introduced the meeting.

The meeting unfolded, covering all organisational aspects of the upcoming EUG 2026. The highlights of the presentations included, among others, the finalised distribution of all sports venues with a great concentration of key locations in both university campuses, with a centralised village concept which will create the best possible experience for all participants.
After the confirmation of the Organising Committee structure and organisation chart, another focal point was the definition of concepts for the opening and closing events.

The digital, press office, communication, and branding strategies have been carefully planned to ensure effective promotion and consistent visibility for the Games.
Volunteer management is in progress, with plans being developed for roles, trainings, schedules, and staffing across the two campuses.
Updates on accommodation and catering plans were presented as well, together with Transport arrangements, which will be tailored to different user segments.

The next milestone for the EUG 2026 preparations will be the coordination meeting with the National University Sports Associations (NUSA), continuing the collaborative efforts to deliver a seamless and memorable European Universities Games 2026.
