Raqball arrives on European Campuses
The European University Sports Association (EUSA), with the cooperation of the International Raqball Federation (IRBF), launched an exciting new initiative for the academic year 2025–2026: the Raqball Development Project.
The project gives EUSA Associated Members universities the opportunity to introduce Raqball, a dynamic, team-based sport combining elements of racket and team games, on their campuses, with sports equipment, training, and ongoing guidance supported by IRBF.

Eight universities across Europe were selected to participate after the application process deadline in September, 2025. The participating universities are the University of Miskolc Egyetem (Hungary), Bilkent University (Turkey), University of Aveiro (Portugal), University of Coimbra (Portugal), University of Beira (Portugal), Camilo José Cela University (Spain), Imperial College London (United Kingdom), and Victor Babeș University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Romania). Selection was based on the quality of their proposals, logistical feasibility, and potential impact.

The Raqball Development Project demonstrates how innovation in sports can enrich student life, promote physical activity, and foster international collaboration. Each participating university is adapting Raqball to its own context, resources, and academic programs, ensuring that the sport develops sustainably and locally.

With follow-up visits planned for Spring 2026, the IRBF remains fully committed to supporting universities in the next stages of the project. As Raqball grows across campuses, it promises to become a recognised and accessible university sport across Europe, contributing to EUSA’s mission of creating diverse, inclusive, and engaging sporting opportunities for students.
