March 2026 EUSA-NUSA webinar
On March 23, 2026, EUSA hosted the EUSA-NUSA webinar, which gathered approximately 50 representatives of National University Sports Associations from 19 countries.
During the session, participants were informed about key developments, decisions, upcoming activities, and EUSA sports events.
Opening the session, EUSA 1st Vice-President, Bruno Barracosa, extended a welcome to participants and representatives of NUSAs.
The session continued with an update from EUSA Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik, who presented an overview of recent Executive Committee Meeting decisions and activities.
Among the main updates were developments including the reinstatement of a formerly inactive member and new Associated Members joining the network, and new leadership appointments confirmations, including Vice Presidents, Commissions and Working Groups.

A significant portion of the webinar focused on upcoming events, presented by EUSA Director Sports Events, Liam Smith. Preparations for the European Universities Championships (EUC) and European Universities Games (EUG) were outlined, including key details for events such as the European Universities Combat Sports Championships 2026 in Tirana and the Rowing Championship 2026 in Zagreb.
Updates were also provided on the organisation of the European Universities Games 2026 in Salerno, with progress reported on venues, logistics, and registrations.

Looking further ahead, the participants were informed about future hosting opportunities, including bidding procedures for the European Universities Championships 2029 and European Universities Games 2032.
The participants were additionally informed of the attribution of the first-ever European Universities Winter Games 2028 to be held in Erzurum, Turkiye.
The session highlighted the growth of the European Students Run as a mass participation event, noting that bids will soon open for interested organisers to host the 2027 and 2028 editions, complementing broader efforts to promote sport and healthy lifestyles among students.

Overall, the webinar provided a comprehensive update on EUSA’s strategic direction, upcoming competitions, and opportunities for collaboration, reinforcing the organisation’s ongoing commitment to developing university sport across Europe.
