EUSA joins 2026 #LetsIDUS and #BeActive celebrations

The European University Sports Association (EUSA) joined the celebrations of the International Day of University Sport (#LetsIDUS) and the European Week of Sport (#BeActive) with an active 10-kilometre cycling ride around Ljubljana, Slovenia.

This year’s International Day of University Sport was particularly special as it marked the 10th anniversary of IDUS. To celebrate the milestone, the International University Sports Federation (FISU) introduced the “10 years - 10 kilometres” concept, inviting universities and university sport organisations around the world to take part in a 10-km physical activity.

EUSA staff took the opportunity to mark the occasion together on bicycles, exploring Ljubljana and enjoying an active ride through and around the city. The 10-kilometre route combined physical activity, social interaction and the opportunity to experience Ljubljana from a different perspective.

The cycling activity was also connected with the Cycle2Connect project, an Erasmus+ Sport initiative promoting cycling as a sustainable, healthy and inclusive form of mobility and recreation among students. By joining the initiative, EUSA highlighted the role of cycling in encouraging active lifestyles and sustainable mobility. The Cycle2Connect project will continue towards the European Student Cycling Challenge final, which will take place in Ljubljana in June 2027 as part of the Maraton Franja BTC City.

The activity in Ljubljana once again demonstrated that university sport can extend beyond traditional competition. Through simple activities such as cycling together, sport can support healthier lifestyles, sustainable mobility, social connections and stronger communities.

As the celebrations continue until the end of the month, EUSA warmly invites its members, partners and followers to join the #LetsIDUS and #BeActive initiatives. Together, we can celebrate the power of sport, promote healthy and active lifestyles, and inspire more students and communities across Europe to get moving.

In the spirit of both initiatives, EUSA is also inviting individuals, as well as service providers and event organisers, to take part in a survey on physical activity, with a special focus on running. Your input will help contribute to a better understanding of physical activity and participation in sport.

For EUSA, the celebrations will continue beyond September, leading up to the European Students Run, which will take place in Ljubljana on 17-18 October 2026 as part of the 30th NLB Ljubljana Marathon. With 10 km, 21 km and 42 km distances available for student participants, the event will bring together students from across Europe to celebrate running, university sport and an active lifestyle.

EUSA will continue to actively engage with the #LetsIDUS and #BeActive initiatives, supporting and encouraging members, partners, universities and student communities across Europe to stay active and celebrate sport together.
