CYCLE2CONNECT

CYCLE2CONNECT – The European Student Cycling Challenge 2027 promotes sustainable mobility, active lifestyles, and social inclusion by engaging 18 partners, students and vulnerable groups from 13 European countries in a team-based cycling competition.

The project’s core event in Ljubljana, Slovenia, will be complemented by workshops, a mobile app for tracking progress, and policy advocacy to enhance cycling infrastructure. Through five key work packages, the initiative will ensure effective project management, organise a high-profile cycling challenge, develop digital engagement tools, provide training on sustainable mobility and social inclusion, and advocate for better cycling policies across Europe.

Universities, local governments, NGOs, bike-sharing companies, and cycling federations will collaborate to create a broad and lasting impact. Students will benefit from improved health, stronger social connections, and a shift toward daily cycling habits, while cities and universities will see reduced congestion and enhanced mobility options.

Policymakers will gain evidence-based recommendations to expand bike-sharing systems and infrastructure, contributing to lower carbon emissions and sustainable urban development. The mobile app will further encourage long-term participation, gamifying sustainable travel and providing real-time data on behavioural changes.

By aligning with Erasmus+ and EU sustainability goals, CYCLE2CONNECT will leave a lasting legacy, encouraging other European cities to adopt similar initiatives. The project will foster a culture of active, eco-friendly mobility, ensuring that cycling becomes an integral part of student life and urban transport across Europe.
