10 days to go to the EUG2022 Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony of the European Universities Games Lodz 2022 is only 10 days away! Lodz is ready to host participants representing European Universities from all over Europe, gathering at this year's largest university sport event in the world, and one of the largest sports events to be held in Poland.

This year’s edition of the European Universities Games will start with a grand opening ceremony on the evening of July 17, starting at 9PM. The event will be held in the largest sports and entertainment hall in Łódź, the Atlas Arena. The event is free of charge, and all participants who will arrive to the event in time for the Opening ceremony, will be able to experience it. The event is also available for spectators, also free of charge, with registration and tickets.



The expected numbers of this great sport event organized through the hard work of the Organising committee and their partners, European University Sports Association (EUSA) and its Institute is over 4500 participants, representing over 400 European universities from 38 countries, that will come to Lodz, compete and help create another great EUG story.

European Universities Games bring 20 sports to Lodz, as well as educational, cultural and social program. The latter two are important not only for its social and fun aspect, but also in better understanding of different cultures and for being able to live together in harmony.

EUG2022 sports

Sports competitions will be organised in 3x3 basketball, badminton, basketball, beach handball, beach volleyball, chess, handball, football, futsal, sport climbing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, volleyball and water polo. Combat sports will be featured as well, including karate, kickboxing, judo and taekwondo. Para Table Tennis will be offered for students with disabilities, with para power lifting and sitting volleyball being featured as promo sports.

EUSA and its Institute are organising a conference on Volunteering on July 18, and a round table on dual career on July 19. During the event, also several workshops, on topics of volunteerism, inclusion, healthy lifestyle, sustainability, social skills and leadership will be open for attendance. These events are going to be available for different types of participants, including athletes, officials, volunteers, National University Sport Association (NUSA) members, university representatives and other interested members of the public.

Press and media registration

The registration for press and media representatives is still open, until July 15; so if you are working in the field and want a direct access in covering the event, please register as soon as possible on the official event website.

The European Universities Games in Lodz are being organised under the licence of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) by the Lodz University of Technology, University Sports Association of Poland (AZS) and City of Lodz, in cooperation with the EUSA Institute and several partners, including the Ministry of Education and Science, national and local tourism organisations, Polish Olympic Committee, national and local sports organisation, media outlets and is also supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
