YouthSportCV project on skills recognition in sport kicks off

On January 15, the kick-off meeting for the project YouthSportCV was held at the headquarters of the Union of Sports Federations of Catalonia (UFEC) in Barcelona, Spain. YouthSportCV is a transnational initiative that brings together a diverse group of partners across Europe working in the fields of sport, youth and employability.

The project is coordinated by the Union of Sports Federations of Catalonia - UFEC (Spain). The consortium includes the Youth section of the European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation – ENGSO Youth (Sweden/Italy), Association for International Sport for All - TAFISA (Germany), EUSA Institute of the European University Sports Association (Slovenia), European Association of Sport Employers - EASE (France), the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sport – Department of International Relations and EU Policies (Greece), and the Sport Evolution Alliance - SEA (Portugal).

Following a warm welcome by the hosts and introductory presentations focused on skills recognition, partners discussed the three-year timeline in detail. The session focused on revising and distributing tasks while sharing specific areas of expertise and existing good practices.

The project aims to improve the employability of young people, with a particular focus on NEETs (those not in education, employment, or training), by recognizing the soft skills acquired through sports participation. Empowering young people to assess their soft skills gained in sports for improving employment opportunities (YouthSportCV) will develop innovative digital tools, including a self-assessment platform, digital certification, and online training for coaches. Additionally, pilot programs will be implemented in Spain, Portugal and Greece.

The initiative also promotes inclusion, gender equality, and European values, aligning with the core priorities of the Erasmus+ Sport programme. Through its involvement in this project, EUSA further strengthens its role as a European reference in promoting the social impact of sport and youth development.
