Volunteering opportunities with EUSA in 2019

European University Sports Association and the EUSA Institute are announcing the deadline for application for the next round of volunteering projects under European Solidarity Corps - ESC (successor of European Voluntary Service - EVS) within our organisation. The foreseen service in EUSA for this call is one year; the next available term is from September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020. Deadline to apply is January 21, 2019.

We also have an opening of hosting a volunteer from Ireland (and we only from Ireland) for service between February 1 and August 31, 2019. For the term September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020, volunteers from any country in Europe may apply.

Support of volunteering in the EU has a long tradition - as EVS it celebrated 20 years in 2016, and is now run as European Solidarity Corps, now as its own programme. The service provides young Europeans with the unique chance to express their personal commitment through unpaid and full-time voluntary activities. In this way, it seeks to develop solidarity, mutual understanding and tolerance among young people, thus contributing to reinforcing social cohesion in the European Union and to promoting young people's active citizenship.

European Solidarity Corps

Open to young people aged 17 to 30, it is a learning opportunity for the volunteers and the organisations involved. Beyond benefiting the local communities and organisations, young volunteers can develop new skills by participating in voluntary activities, improving their personal, educational and professional development. Volunteers can benefit from specific training throughout the activity and agree on their expected learning outcomes, processes and methods in advance.

Participation is free for the volunteers, who get board and lodging, insurance cover and a small allowance for the duration of the project. A successful ESC project requires close co-operation among at least three key players: the supporting (sending) organisation in the country of the volunteer, hosting organisation (us) and the volunteers themselves. Please note that ESC does not mean a free vacation but an internship in a way, with emphasis on learning experiences, personal growth and improving youth employability opportunities.
