The annual Conference and General Assembly of the European Athlete as Student (EAS) - dual career network took place online on September 17, 2020. Adopting to the restrictions and preventive measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the EAS General Assembly and Conference are have been transformed into a virtual event, hosted by the University of Hamburg in Germany.

The day started with the EAS General Assembly, where activity report of the Executive Committee has been presented by its President Ms Laura Capranica. The annual financial report followed, discussing on the activities and finances of the organisation. Focus was given on the various dual career projects, supported by Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. European University Sports Association (EUSA) through its Institute, is currently partnering in three projects together with EAS - the Edmedia (Media as a Channel of Athletes’ Dual Careers Promotion and Education), EMPATIA (Education Model for Parents of AThletes In Academics) and as an associate member also in AMID (Athletic Migration in Dual Career). The Assembly part concluded with the plans for EAS conference for 2021.



The first virtual EAS Conference welcomed over 100 participants and started with opening words by host representative Mr Joerg Foerster (University of Hamburg Sport Service & EAS Board Member) and welcome by Ms Laura Capranica (EAS President). Keynote speeches on EU Sport policy was made by Mr Yves Le Lostecque (Head of the Sport Unit, European Commission) and on The future of Dual Career by Ms Agata Dziarnowska (Policy officer, European Commission). Participants also had a chance to hear about the Status of Dual Career at Olympic Training Center Hamburg by Olympic TC Wittfoth/Boehnert (Career Counsellors). EUSA was represented at the event by its Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl.



In the project presentation session, 7 running EU projects were showcased, having the opportunity for dissemination and discussion of the actual status of the projects and results achieved so far. The projects discussed were: AMID, DONA, EMPATIA, More Than Gold, Sport Opens Schools, STARTING 11 and We-Care. The conference day concluded with a parallel workshop sessions on the projects STARTING 11 and EdMedia.
