Three new ESC volunteers join the EUSA team
European University Sports Association (EUSA), with its Institute, welcomed three international European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteers into the office, joining the team in Ljubljana for a period of 1 year.
The EUSA staff is pleased to have been joined by Dorina Nagy from Hungary, Milena Alessandria from Italy, and Aada Tiermas from Finland. These three young individuals will learn, assist, and experience the daily EUSA activities in the EUSA Office and especially work and learn from the process of preparing and executing the 2026 European Universities Games in Salerno, Italy.

Here is a short introduction about our new volunteers:
Dorina Nagy
I’m Dorina, I’m 29, and I‘m from Hungary. In Budapest, I studied Sport Tourism, and I started doing sport volunteering in 2022. And since then, it has become a passion. I did all kinds of events from handball, through aquatics, to gymnastics, and I especially like multisport events. Because of all these experiences, I moved to Italy to do a Master’s degree in Sport Management, and I heard about the EUSA there. I was a volunteer at the EUSA Games 2024 in Miskolc, and I loved the atmosphere. As part of my studies, I did an internship at Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games, where I was an Accommodation Coordinator, and this experience convinced me that I would like to work in sporting events.
In my free time, I love dancing salsa, hiking, or just walking around cities. I love watching all kinds of sports, one of my favourites is road cycling. I love living in different countries and cities to get to know new cultures and languages, and Slovenia seems to be the perfect place for every one of these activities.

I wanted to join EUSA because I think this opportunity will help me grow professionally and personally as well. I look forward to this year to learn more about the overall organisation and execution of another large-scale multisport event, besides working on social projects connected to sport.
I would like to thank my sending organisation, Hungarian Volunteer Sending Foundation, for supporting me through this journey.
Aada Tiermas
My name is Aada, I’m 26, and I am from Finland. I studied Responsible Management and Business of Sport at a university in Finland, and last spring I graduated with a master’s degree. Sports have always been really important to me, whether participating myself or following them. I did competitive swimming for many years, and I still occasionally compete, but I also like to be active outdoors and explore new places. I have always been interested in getting to know new cultures and working in international environments. I studied a semester in both Scotland and South Korea, as well as I have spent time and traveled in Australia and Asia. However, Slovenia is new to me, and I am excited to get to explore the country more.

I chose to apply for volunteering at EUSA as I think it is a perfect first step into an international sports career, where I have the opportunity to learn, get valuable experience, grow professionally, and create networks. I would also like to thank my sending organisation, Allianssi Youth Exchanges, for supporting me throughout the journey.
Milena Alessandria
Hi, I’m Milena! I am 25 years old and I come from Italy. During my studies in Tourism and Foreign Languages, I had the opportunity to live, study and work abroad in intercultural teams: these experiences have deeply enriched me, and so I keep on looking for them in my life. Over time, I developed a strong interest in project and event management. I’ve already had a glimpse of these roles in different sectors, and I’m eager to explore them further in a new working environment.
The world of sports has always fascinated me. I’ve practised figure skating for many years, and more recently I’ve developed a strong interest in yoga. I’ve always watched a lot of sport on TV, dreaming of being one day somehow involved in those events that, from my point of view were a celebration of unity, a moment capable of bringing together people of different nationalities, backgrounds, beliefs, and so, of breaking down the walls.

I found all of this concretely when I volunteered for the 2024 European Football Championships and, especially, for the 2025 Winter World University Games. Now I am really happy to be involved in the sports field for the next year and to contribute to the organisation and communication of sports events. I am sure that I will learn a lot here and that this new adventure will be precious for my future!
A big thanks to EUSA for hosting me and to Lunaria APS, my sending organisation, for supporting me in this journey.
