Successful international conference organised in Ukraine

The National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sport organised a successful two-day online conference titled "Sustainable Development and Heritage in Sport: Challenges and Prospects", organised under the patronage of EUSA.

The international conference, which took place on November 26 and 27, had the backing of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ministry of Youth and Sport of Ukraine and the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, under the patronage of International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education, International Association of Sports Kinetics and EUSA.

Despite the global pandemic, organisers made the most of the opportunity to hold the annual scientific forum in an online format, involving well-known scientists and experts not only from Ukraine, but from several other countries as well.

Discussions revolved around current issues in various fields of sports, recreational activities, physical culture and physical education, focusing on effective mechanisms for putting research findings in practice and implementing them in educational activities.

Present at the conference on behalf of EUSA was President Mr Adam Roczek.

Ukraine Conference

The conference began with an opening plenary session, after which presentations on a variety of topics were given, including current issues of modern sport, ecological issues in terms of the sustainable development concept of physical culture and sport as well as health and recreational physical activities.

Discussions on the second day revolved around the system of athletes’ training in Olympic sports, the formation of value orientations among the young generation in the conditions of the modern paradigm of Olympic education, and the new vision on cooperation between NUUPES and sports federations in the field of sports and science during covid-19 pandemic.

Through the pooling of knowledge, effort and exchange of experience between professionals and states, attendees were encouraged to find creative ways to overcoming various difficulties, especially during the current unprecedented situation, while keeping sustainable development initiatives in mind.
