Successful FISU seminar in Lausanne

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) successfully held the FISU Seminar between the 10-12th of May in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The FISU Headquarters gave place for the 3 days long seminar which aim was to provide a platform for the Organizing Committees (OC) of the 2024 FISU World Championships. 

On behalf of the FISU Office, Mr Juan Carlos Holgado, FISU Sports Director welcomed the representatives of the OCs, coming from all over the world. 

The seminar kicked off with an afternoon session where participants were welcomed by Mr Marian Dymalski, FISU International Technical Committee Chair and by Mr Paulo Ferreira, FISU General Director. In the first session, the moderators of the event, Mr Alejandro Guerra and Mr Julien Carrel, FISU Sport Managers presented the key moments and elements in a FISU Championship. 

 It was followed by the first session of the OCs presentations, in which they introduced themselves, including cultural and infrastructural backgrounds and the current status of the progress regarding the championships. The session was concluded by the presentation of Mr Fernando Parrente, FISU Head of Protocol. 

On the second day, the morning session started with the OCs presentations followed by Mr Roman Boillat, Head of Project 8bitstudio introducing the website solutions provided by FISU. One of the most successful events of last year's championships was the sport climbing championships held in Innsbruck. Two members of the OC, Julia Pinggera and Gernot Huphauf shared the key moments and experiences of the event in an impressive presentation. 

 

One of the most delightful presentations in the afternoon session was held by Mr Darren Hughes, external expert in event management about workforce management.

The programme was followed by cultural activity in the Olympic Museum, Lausanne and concluded with an official dinner.

On the last day of the seminar FISU departments shared important know-how in marketing, media and online accreditation and result systems.

The European Universities Sports Association (EUSA) was represented by EUSA Sports Officer, Ms Ezster Gulyas.
