Successful EUSA Convention 2018

Between September 20 and 23, European University Sports Association (EUSA) organised a special Convention for the Organisers of the upcoming European Universities Championships 2019. The event was held in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, celebrating the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) and the European Week of Sport (#beactive).

The event was preceded by an internal Seminar for Technical and Medical Commission members, and officially opened for the EUSA events organisers on September 21 in the afternoon.

After an introduction to the European University Sports Association by Mr Pecovnik, EUSA Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti presented the European Universities Championships – first in general, and then operational elements in more details.

Experiences of the past European Universities Games Coimbra 2018 were shared by its Secretary General Mr Mario Santos.

The audience also got an update about the European Universities Games Belgrade 2020, presented by its General Director and President of the University Sport Federation of Serbia Mr Sinisa Jasnic.

First day of the Convention concluded with an official dinner, powered by sports equipment manufacturer Elan Inventa. The formal event was attended also by other sports partners, including the famous Slovenian Olympian and Vice-President of the European Fair-Play Movement (EFPM) Mr Miroslav Cerar.

Saturday programme started with presentations by the EUSA Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl on Visual Identity and Media, as well as on Registration and Accreditation.

Good practices of the past season of the European Universities Championships were also shared by representatives of the organisers. Mr Aitor Canibe Sanchez presented the motivation and legacy of the European Universities Tennis Championship Madrid 2017.

European Universities 3x3 Basketball, Beach Volleyball and Sport Climbing Championships Split 2017 were presented by Mr Drazen Males, focusing especially on media strategy and local engagement.

Mr Pisl presented the International Day of University Sport (IDUS), proclaimed by UNESCO on the initiative of FISU, as well as the the European Week of Sport and the #beactive campaign, both celebrated in September, complementing each other.

In the afternoon part, the organisers of the 23 European Universities Championships presented their events in two parallel sessions. The presentations were followed by internal meetings and workshops with the EUSA Technical delegates.

All participants (more than 80 of them) were also invited to join the #letsidus #beactive sports activities, held in the gym of the local elementary school.



EUSA Convention was held at the Ramada Resort Kranjska Gora, moderated by EUSA Education and Development Manager Ms Sara Rozman, supported by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and Elan Inventa.
