Student Sports Netherlands visit EUSA office

On October 16 and 17, representatives of Student Sports Netherlands (SSN) visited the EUSA Office in Ljubljana, Slovenia, during the second edition of the European Students Run, for a constructive meeting aimed at further strengthening cooperation and identifying new opportunities to advance the development of university sport across Europe.

The Dutch delegation was represented by SSN President Luuk Minnaar, Secretary General Mireille Noordhoorn, and Treasurer Patrick Wisse. Over the two days, they were received by EUSA President Haris Pavletic, First Vice-President Bruno Barracosa, Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik, Director Sports Events Liam Smith, and Director Projects & Policy Andrej Pisl.

Studentensport Nederland (SSN) is the umbrella organisation representing student sport in the Netherlands.
It represents the interests of up to 200,000 student athletes in the Netherlands. This makes SSN the key player in promoting student sports nationally. Thanks to SSN, students can rely on a network of sports associations and events.

The discussions covered several strategic priorities for the future of university sport in Europe, including the possibility of hosting future EUSA events in the Netherlands, strengthening cooperation between EUSA and the Student Sports Netherlands, exploring joint opportunities through European Union-funded projects, and encouraging greater participation of Dutch higher education institutions in the EUSA Associated Members Programme.

The meeting also addressed key challenges and emerging opportunities for university sport organisations across Europe, underlining the value of closer cooperation, the exchange of expertise, and joint initiatives to promote student participation and further strengthen the position of sport within higher education.

EUSA would like to thank the Dutch delegation for their visit and constructive discussions, and looks forward to continuing the successful collaboration in the years to come.
