Seminar on Sport and Physical Activity at the Workplace held in Vienna

Vienna hosted on December 10, 2018 the Seminar on Sport and Physical Activity at the Workplace, held in the framework of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. In the area of sport and health, one of the priorities of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union is sport and physical activity at the workplace and the role it plays in occupational health.

The seminar covered several topics, such as Sport and physical activity at the workplace: experiences, challenges and best practices, Workplace health promotion and physical activity: positive effects and economic benefits, Diverse working environments: successful implementation of sport and physical activity in different types of organizational settings and Changing working conditions – changing society: implications for the future.

At the beginning of the Seminar, the participants were welcomed by Ms Barbara Spindler-Oswald, Chair of the Council Working Party on Sport and Mr Yves Le Lostecque, Head of Sport Unit at the European Commission.

One of the session was moderated by Mr Pecovnik

During the seminar, the participants from several European organisations and member states exchanged views and information at the EU level. Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary General was, on the invitation of the Austrian Presidency team, moderating one of the sessions.

The event concluded with the guided tour to the University of Applied Sciences in Vienna. During his stay, Mr Pecovnik also met with the President of the Unisport Austria, Ms Hemma Angerer.
