SELL Games registration still open

SELL Games registration still open

Organisers of the annual SELL Student Games have extended the deadlines for registrations, meaning National University Sports Federations still have the opportunity to send interested athletes to this historic event.

The SELL – which stands for Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in their own respective languages – Student Games is an international sports competition for students which dates back to 1923, when the first International Regional Student Sports competitions were organised in Tartu, Estonia.

More than 1000 students from nine different countries took part in the successful 2018 edition held in Tartu, where 12 different sporting events were offered.

Organisers have gone one better for the 2019 edition, which will take place in the Lithuanian city of Kaunas from May 17-19, with 13 sports included in the programme this year. They are: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Greco-Roman wrestling, Judo, Mini-football 7 x 7, Orienteering, Powerlifting, Rugby 7s, Swimming, Table tennis and Volleyball.

The initial general and quantitative registration deadlines had already passed, yet organisers of the event, which is now heading into its 35th edition, have now extended the deadlines, allowing for national federations and individual athletes to still register for the Games, which are now just two months away.
