NUSA coordination teams visit Coimbra for EUG2018

Representatives of eleven national university sports associations (NUSA) visited Coimbra on May 8 and 9, to get acquainted with the preparations for the European Universities Games 2018. They were hosted by the Organizing Committee, EUSA's Supervision Commission and Staff.

The two-day programme, full of activities, started on Tuesday with welcomes from EUSA and the Organising Committee, followed by presentation of key-topics related to the organization of the event.

The participants also got to know the staff of the event, which will host competitions in 13 sports, educational, cultural and social events, bringing together 4000 participants from all over Europe.

After that, the national university sports associations representatives continued their visit with inspecting the venues that will be used for the Games, starting with two of the major ones, Coimbra's University Stadium that is to hosts several sports in its big sports complex, Montemor High-Performance Center, where Canoe Sprint and Rowing competitions will be held.

On Wednesday, the day started with a visit to the opening ceremony location, Paço das Escolas, and the Rector's Conference venue at the University of Coimbra. The day also included visits to other sports venues as well as dormitories and canteens.

The two-day visit ended with a Q&A session and a closing dinner with the participants, where they were also welcomed by DUC, the mascot of the Games.

Representatives of France, Germany, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Turkey and United Kingdom attended this NUSA coordination visit prior to the European Universities Games, which will be held July 15-29 in Coimbra, Portugal.
