Norwegian Association of University Sports visits EUSA Headquarters

On June 8, 2026, the European University Sports Association (EUSA) welcomed a delegation from the Norwegian Association of University Sports to its headquarters in Ljubljana, Slovenia, for a productive working meeting focused on strengthening cooperation and exploring future opportunities for the development of university sport.

The Norwegian delegation was represented by Amalie Husby, President of the Norwegian Association of University Sports, and Birte Sunde Leirvag, Head of International Affairs. They were received by EUSA President, Haris Pavletic and Matjaz Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary General/CEO, as well as EUSA office staff members.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on several strategic topics related to the future development of university sport in Europe. Discussions included the potential organisation of a future EUSA events in Norway in 2029, opportunities to strengthen cooperation between EUSA and the Norwegian Association of University Sports, collaboration within European Union-funded projects, and ways to increase the engagement of Norwegian higher education institutions through the EUSA Associated Members Programme.

As one of the leading university sport organisations in the Nordic region, the Norwegian Association of University Sports plays an important role in promoting student sport, active lifestyles, and educational values through sport. The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both organisations to support university sport as a platform for education, inclusion, international cooperation, and personal development.

Delegates also discussed current challenges and opportunities facing university sport organisations across Europe, highlighting the importance of collaboration, knowledge exchange, and joint initiatives aimed at increasing student participation and strengthening the role of sport within higher education.

The visit further reinforced the strong relationship between EUSA and the Norwegian Association of University Sports and opened new possibilities for future cooperation at both regional and European levels.
