New EVS-ESC volunteers welcomed for 2019-20

New EVS-ESC volunteers welcomed for 2019-20

At the start of October, the European University Sports Association (EUSA) with its Institute welcomed three new international EVS-ESC volunteers into the office, who will make Ljubljana their home for the next 12 months.

The EUSA staff is pleased to have been joined by Ms Amelie Bury from France, Mr Tomasz Olszewski from Poland and Ms Zrinka Tabain from Croatia, who will learn, assist and experience the daily EUSA activities in the EUSA Office for the next year.

Here is a bit more about each new volunteer:

Ms Amelie Bury

Amélie has her Master’s degree in Human Resources from IGS school in Paris. After working in the French capital as an HR coordinator in a clothing company for seven years, she decided to do something completely different and applied for the ESC adventure with EUSA (her first volunteering experience), because she wanted to work in an area with the same values as hers.

Amélie practised athletics for several years, but now she’s playing ultimate – but don’t be afraid, not the fighting one, the frisbee one! Her sending organisation is CIDJ (Youth Information and Documentation Centre) from Paris, France.

Mr Tomasz Olszewski

Tomasz hails from Szczecin in Poland, and graduated from the University of Economics in Poznan with a Master’s degree in Tourism and is due to receive his second in the field of accounting. From a young age he was fascinated by sport, participating in a wide range of diverse activities such as football, tennis, capoeira and swimming, while also ice skating and skiing during winter. In his pursuit of working in the sports industry, Tomasz took part in football scouting courses and is now a certified scout for the International Professional Scouting Organisation.

To gain more knowledge of how the sports industry works and to be part of some of the biggest sports events in Europe, he has joined EUSA as a volunteer where he hopes to learn as much as he can over the next year. His sending organisation is Secretariat for Youth of the Westpomeranian Region from Szczecin, Poland.

Ms Zrinka Tabain

Zrinka is due to finish her undergraduate studies in Food Technology at the University of Zagreb. She has been passionate about sports from a young age and has been training karate for over ten years. Over the last three years she has volunteered at various EUSA events including the 2016 European University Games, the 2017 European University Championships in 3x3 Basketball, Sport Climbing and Beach Volleyball and the 2019 European University Beach Handball Championship.

Zrinka Tabain

She has been a part of FISU events as well, volunteering at the World University Handball Championship and participating at the FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy 2018 in Russia, where she was awarded the status of FISU Ambassador. Her sending organisation is Ocean of Knowledge from Zagreb, Croatia.

The EUSA Institute is an accredited organisation for the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), previously the European Commission's European Voluntary Service (EVS), with the current EVS programme financed by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. In Slovenia, the programme is coordinated by the National Agency Movit.
