New EUSA volunteering opportunity for 2023-24

New EUSA volunteering opportunity for 2023-24

European University Sports Association and the EUSA Institute are announcing the volunteering opportunities for 2023, with long-term (12 months) volunteering position in the EUSA Office, starting this fall. Short-term (7-10 days) volunteering opportunities during the 2023 European Universities Championships around Europe have mainly been filled, and we plan to open the call for the volunteering during the European Universities Games Debrecen-Miskolc 2024 towards the end of this year.

Next round of volunteering projects under European Solidarity Corps - ESC (successor of European Voluntary Service - EVS) within our organisation is open for application until July 5, 2023. The foreseen service in EUSA for this call is one year with the activity period being from beginning of September 2023 to end of August 2024.

Current ESC Volunteers in EUSA

Support of volunteering in the EU has a long tradition, as representing the service that provides young Europeans with the unique chance to express their personal commitment through unpaid and full-time voluntary activities. In this way, it aims to develop solidarity, mutual understanding, and tolerance among young people, thus contributing to reinforcing social cohesion in the European Union and to promoting young people's active citizenship. The European Solidarity Corps brings together young people to build a more inclusive society, supporting vulnerable people and responding to societal challenges.

Volunteers supporting the organisation of EUSA sports events

This opportunity is open to young people aged 17 to 30, and it is a learning opportunity for the volunteers and the organisations involved. Besides benefiting the local communities and organisations, young volunteers can develop new skills by participating in voluntary activities, improving their personal, educational and professional development. Volunteers can benefit from specific training throughout the activity and agree on their expected learning outcomes, processes and methods in advance.

ESC programme

Volunteering will focus on the preparation and implementation of the largest university sport event in Europe next year – the European Universities Games Debrecen-Miskolc 2024, as well as educational events and engagement in social responsibility projects on various topics.

Volunteer promotion events

With participation the volunteers get board and lodging, insurance is covered and a small allowance for the duration of the project will be given. For the ESC project to be successful it requires close co-operation among at least three key players: the supporting (sending) organisation in the country of the volunteer, hosting organisation (us) and the volunteers themselves.

ESC - European Solidarity Corps programme

Please be aware while submitting your application that, ESC does not mean a free vacation but an internship in a way, with emphasis on learning experiences, personal growth and improving youth employability opportunities. The programme is co-funded by the European Union, with the support of Movit, the National Agency in Slovenia.
