May working meetings in Ljubljana

EUSA Office in Ljubljana hosted also two international working meetings in the second half of May, focusing on the future EUSA events and initiatives related to the European Universities Championships and European Universities Games.

Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CASF) represented by its President Mr Zrinko Custonja and Sports Director Mr Ronald Strumberger, accompanied by United World Wrestling Scientific Commission Member Mr Mario Baic, visited EUSA office in Ljubljana, on May 17, 2018, to meet with EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik and Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti. The participants discussed the operational delivery of the European Universities Combat Sports Championships 2019 in Zagreb and the potential inclusion of the Wrestling as the fifth combat sport on the event, proposed to EUSA by CASF and United World Wrestling Europe. The event will be held in July 2019 featuring Karate, Judo, Taekwondo and Kickboxing. Potential inclusion of Wrestling will be discussed and decided on the next EUSA Executive Committee Meeting.

EUSA-EUG2020 meeting

The second meeting took place on Monday, May 21, 2018, when the University Sports Federation of Serbia (USSS) President and 2020 European Universities Games (EUG) Director Mr Sinisa Jasnic visited EUSA office in order to discuss the progress on the preparation of the EUG2020. The main topics of the discussion with EUSA representatives Mr Pecovnik and Mr Aliti, were the EUG Progress Report and Activity Plan including the presence of delegation of EUG2020 and the university teams from Serbia on the EUG2018 Coimbra, meeting of the Organising Committee, Sports Program and other matters connected to the organisation of the European Universities Games 2020. Serbia will next year host also European Universities Championships in Beach Handball, Sports Climbing and Volleyball; all to serve as test events for the EUG 2020 in Belgrade.
