Madrid is preparing to host the European Universities Championship in Padel 2027 at the Camilo Jose Cela University (UCJC) campus in Villafranca del Castillo.

As part of the preparations, EUSA Sports Manager Miha Zvan and Technical Delegate for Padel Raquel Mascarenhas visited Madrid on 20 October 2026 to inspect the facilities and review the main aspects of the Championship.

Representing the Local Organising Committee were Pedro Gavin, UCJC Deputy Director of Sports, and Pol Arnan, Sports Coordinator of the Championship. Although unable to attend, Jose Luis Lesma, UCJC Director of Sports, extended a warm welcome to the EUSA representatives and expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event.

The inspection began at the UCJC campus, where the delegation visited the Padel facilities, currently featuring three courts, with five glass courts planned to be available for the Championship. The visit also included the university residence for athletes and officials, the accreditation centre, the GTM room, the dining facilities and the areas planned for the opening and closing ceremonies, among other facilities.

During the technical meetings, several organisational aspects were discussed, with particular attention given to the possibility of including mixed doubles in the competition programme. This option will continue to be explored together with EUSA. A potential adjustment to the Championship dates was also discussed to ensure the best possible conditions for the event.

Following lunch at the Tobogan restaurant on campus, the delegation visited the hotel planned for the EUSA Family. The proximity of the main facilities and accommodation venues will be an important advantage for the Championship.

The visit continued with a walk through Madrid's Retiro Park, providing an opportunity to enjoy the city and continue discussing the preparations for the event.

With extensive experience in organising national and international sports events, UCJC continues working closely with EUSA on the preparations for the European Universities Championship in Padel 2027, aiming to deliver a successful Championship and a memorable experience for university athletes from across Europe.
