Lift-off for EUG2021

Lift-off for EUG2021

The branding for the fifth edition of the European Universities Games in Belgrade, Serbia has received an overhaul, with #EUG2021 now the official hashtag as we count down to next year’s highly anticipated event.

Over 5 000 participants were set to descend upon Serbia’s capital city in July this year, yet amid the current global pandemic, taking into consideration the safety and wellbeing of all concerned, a decision was made to postpone the event to 2021.

The new dates for next year’s competition have been confirmed, with the fifth edition of the Games now scheduled to take place between July 14-27, 2021.

Branding for the 14-day event will now reflect #EUG2021, with the local organising committee hard at work to ensure all organisational aspects and preparations are on track for next year’s competition.

Keeping in tune with local sports events in Serbia, the EUG2021 Local Organising Committee was also involved at the recently-concluded European Rowing Juniors Championship which took place at Lake Ada in Belgrade, gaining knowledge and experience which will no doubt be beneficial ahead of EUG2021.

Registrations for EUG2021, which is now less than ten months away, will reopen on November 1, 2020. Teams already selected for the European Universities Games in Belgrade remain registered, unless requested otherwise.

The sports programme for the European Universities Games in Belgrade has also been finalised, with 21 different sports disciplines making up the schedule, namely 3x3 Basketball, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Handball, Beach Volleyball, Chess, Football, Futsal, Handball, Judo, Karate, Kickboxing, Orienteering, Rowing, Rugby 7s, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo. There will be a Para Table Tennis competition for student athletes with disabilities, and a Sitting Volleyball competition as a demonstrative sport.
