Kick-off meeting of Inclusion and Diversity Commission

Kick-off meeting of Inclusion and Diversity Commission

The EUSA Inclusion and Diversity Commission held its first meeting on May 19, 2026, officially marking the beginning of its new four-year mandate.

The Commission is chaired by EUSA Executive Committee Member Yngvild Schei (NOR), while Sara Rozman (SLO), EUSA Director of Education and Operations, serves as Secretary of the Commission. The Commission members are Tatsiana Andrushka (POL), Anika Leslie-Walker (GBR), Svea Thamsen (GER), and Kjell-Erik Kvamsdal (NOR).

The primary objective of the Inclusion and Diversity Commission is to promote equal opportunities and inclusion in university sport by integrating the principles of equality and non-discrimination into all EUSA activities. The Commission aims to use sport as a tool for empowerment and gender equality, raise awareness about harassment and abuse in sport, support greater participation and representation of women athletes in events and governing bodies, and encourage education, research, and partnerships that contribute to a safe, diverse, and inclusive sporting environment.

Following opening remarks by EUSA Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik, the Commission members were introduced to several important initiatives and achievements from recent years, including the White Paper on the Inclusion of Gender-Diverse Participants, the EUSA Charter on Inclusion and Diversity, the Guidelines for Partners and Representatives, and contributions to the European University Sports at a Glance report.

The meeting also included preliminary discussions on the Commission’s priorities for 2026, as well as long-term objectives and activities planned throughout the mandate period. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening cooperation across EUSA structures, developing educational resources, and encouraging broader participation and representation within university sport.

The next meeting of the commission is planned for the autumn.
