International Students' Day 2025
November 17 marks the International Students’ Day, honouring the diversity, resilience, and global spirit of students, while underscoring the importance of accessible and high-quality education for all.
The day traces its origins to 1939, when Czech universities were closed and students persecuted for standing up against oppression. What began as a commemoration of their courage has evolved into a worldwide celebration of student rights, unity, and multicultural exchange.
Students continue to shape the future through their academic pursuits, community involvement, and, for many, their commitment to sport. Balancing education and sport requires dedication and support, which is why recognising and promoting dual career pathways remains essential.
In 2025, International Students’ Day embraces the theme of students as powerful agents of change in building a fairer and more inclusive society. EUSA proudly supports this vision and continues to advocate for opportunities that combine sport, education, and personal growth.
This year’s celebration arrives just ahead of the final event in the European Universities Championships season - the European Universities Winter Sports Championships. Together with EUSA’s ongoing projects and initiatives, especially the European Week of Winter Sport, it reinforces our commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and enriching sporting experiences for all throughout the year - also in winter.
