International Student Christmas Tournament 2025
The 28th International Student Christmas Tournament “Vedran Jelavic Memorial” was held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from December 4 to 7, 2025, bringing together 140 student athletes from universities across the region for four days of competitive sports and vibrant student activities.
Organized by the Academic Sports Association Dubrovnik, with support from the Student Center Dubrovnik, the Student Council of the University of Dubrovnik, the University of Dubrovnik, and the Croatian Academic Sports Federation, the tournament once again demonstrated its importance as a long-standing tradition in the student sports community. The tournament is held under the patronage of the European University Sports Association (EUSA).

The event officially opened on December 4 with a ceremony that coincided with the UniSport H2O water polo and swimming competitions. The program began with the Croatian National Anthem, followed by a series of welcoming speeches. The stage was then taken by the Lazareti Dance Studio, whose performance added a lively artistic touch to the opening evening.

Throughout the following days, the tournament featured intense basketball and volleyball matches between teams from multiple universities coming from Croatia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia.

The first day saw three basketball games, while December 5 brought a full schedule of both basketball and volleyball competitions. The semifinal and final rounds took place on December 6, resulting in a series of exciting outcomes. In basketball, the University of Maribor and the University of Dubrovnik reached the final, where the University of Maribor claimed victory with a score of 69:46. The University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing won the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, in volleyball, the School of Dental Medicine Zagreb secured the championship title after defeating the University of Pula, 2:0 in the final match. University of Prishtina won third place and a bronze medal in the competition.
Following the final games, the award ceremony celebrated the winning teams, outstanding performers, and the champion of the Three-Point Shootout. Beyond the main competitions, students enjoyed a rich social and cultural program.

The tournament once again proved its value not only as a sporting competition but also as an opportunity for students from various institutions to connect, build friendships, and create unforgettable memories.
