iFlipp project partners meet online

Partners of the EU-funded project iFlipp met online for a meeting on Thursday, April 30 as various points of the three-year project were discussed.

The iFlipp project, which stands for Innovating Football Leadership through Practice and Policy, looks to assess recent research in the representation of women and ethnic minorities (WEM) in leadership positions in football in order to develop responsive inclusive leadership governance action plan at National and European levels.

The aim of the project, which is funded by the Erasmus Plus programme of the European Union, is to increase and enhance leadership skills of women and ethnic minorities in football by creating and piloting a set of inclusive professional development training materials, transferable and adaptable for sport organisations.

The projected is co-ordinated the Fare Network (NED), with six partner organisations including DiscoverFootball (GER), Integrated Dreams (POR), Erasmus University Rotterdam (NED), Portugal Football Association (POR), Malta Football Association (MAL) and the EUSA Institute (SLO), with the support of Europe's football governing UEFA as well.

With all partners present online, a productive meeting was held to ensure the project’s progression, even amid the global pandemic. Present on behalf of EUSA was Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl, Education and Development Manager Ms Sara Rozman and Communications Officer Mr Fabio De Dominicis.

Following a short introduction, project co-ordinators FARE led discussions around the project’s data collection for the Governance Index which forms a key component of the project, before proposing a new time frame for various project activities due to the postponement and uncertainty of various events owing to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Changes to the Online Community Platform were then discussed, before discussions revolving around two intellectual outputs took place ahead of the conclusion of the meeting.

All partners are fully committed to the project and are confident progression will be made despite the unprecedented situation.
