HALT project kicks off in Greece

HALT partners of the EU-supported project Halting Harassment and Abuse in Sports using Learning Technologies (HALT) met in Thessaloniki, Greece, on February 22, 2019.

The project addresses the topic of combating violence and tackle racism, discrimination and intolerance in sport. In this area HALT project is focused on raising awareness about good practices for preventing harassment and abuse in sports. HALT will create and exploit learning technologies (digital games, digital informative material, movie, online community of practice platform) developed by academics to address this goal in network of athletes across Europe, supported by the sports and athletes organisations.

Project HALT is coordinated by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), in partnership with the European University Cyprus (EUC), Portuguese union of professional football players (SJPF), Spanish Women Futsal Players Association (AJFSF), Salzburg Sports Association (ASVO Salzburg), Hellenic Gymnastics Federation (EGO) and the European University Sports Association through its EUSA Institute. The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

At the kickoff meeting the partners presented their activities and contributions in the project. EUSA Institute was presented by Mr Andrej Pisl, Communications and Projects Manager.

The participants will first map the existing good practices, analyse the situation in partner countries, while carrying out awareness-raising activities and will meet again in October 2019 in Ljubljana to continue developing the project activities.
