Follow-up Seminar: Runners4All – European Students Run Project
On Thursday, June 12, 2025, the Runners4All – European Students Run project held an important follow-up seminar online.
This event brought together project coordinators, student mentors, and partners to review the progress so far and to prepare for the next stages of the initiative. The seminar focused on implementation updates, addressing current challenges, and planning upcoming summer and early autumn activities.
Runners4All is a large‑scale, not‑for‑profit European student running initiative aimed at promoting active, healthy, and inclusive lifestyles. With the “European Students Run” integrated into the Ljubljana Marathon in October 2025, it’s a unique opportunity for students across Europe to engage in running, mentorship, leadership training, and community-building.

The seminar began with an overview of current project activities presented by Ales Solar and Ziga Cerne. They introduced updated guidelines for newly selected student participants and shared a brief report on the student mentors who are already active in the project. This segment also provided space to discuss any questions or difficulties that have come up during implementation.

Klemen Laurencak led the second session, which focused on the running training component of the project. He presented the structure of the training programs, discussed how student mentors are supporting implementation, and outlined plans for the summer and early September. Special emphasis was placed on preparing consistent training routines for both 10K and 21K runners, depending on each participant’s current fitness level.

In the third part of the seminar, Marusa Penzes introduced the educational materials available to students. She showcased videos and recordings from the workshops held in May and explained how these resources can support students throughout their training. She also provided practical guidelines to help student mentors engage and motivate participants.

Throughout the seminar, updates from EUSA (European University Sports Association) and project partners were shared with 2 running activities as examples for the other project partners.

The main initiative of the Runners4All project is the introduction of a new 10K Student Run as part of the Ljubljana Marathon this October. This run aims to encourage wider student participation and promote healthy lifestyles through sport.
Another significant announcement was EUSA’s plan to organize a conference ahead of the marathon, which will offer more opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange. The seminar concluded with a discussion about the vital role of student mentors, who act as ambassadors for the project and support their peers throughout the training and event preparation.

The next follow-up meeting will be scheduled before the Ljubljana Marathon on September 16, 2025, to ensure all partners and participants are aligned and ready. The June 12 seminar marked a strong step forward in building momentum for the summer phase of Runners4All and continuing to inspire students across Europe to run together, learn together, and grow together.
Runners4All is a new project, developed together by Timing Ljubljana, European University Sports Association (EUSA) with its Institute, and the City of Ljubljana, and co-funded by the European Union.
The project aims to connect partners and to organize a large-scale not-for-profit event where a special event focuses on the participation of students. Specific tasks also inclusion of disabled and other vulnerable target groups into this public event. Timing Ljubljana is the coordinator of this project involving EUSA, National and Regional University Sports Associations, and universities as partners across Europe, as well as the City of Ljubljana and Special Olympics, together representing 15 countries.
