Fit4Green project partners meet-up in May

In early May, the partners of the Fit4Green project convened online to review the implementation progress of their youth-led green sport events.

The meeting brought together representatives from all participating organisations to share updates, highlight best practices, and align efforts as the project moves toward its final stages.

The Fit4Green project aims to raise environmental awareness by engaging young people in sustainable practices through sport and physical activity. It is coordinated by the EUSA Institute (Slovenia) and involves partners from across Europe: Holztechnikum Kuchl (Austria), the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), InnovationsManufaktur (Germany), NYSA Sweden (Sweden), and the Latvian University Sports Federation (Latvia).

Two of the three planned green campus sport events have already taken place—one in Latvia, organised by the Latvian University Sports Federation (LASS), and the other in Slovenia, hosted by the University of Ljubljana (UL).

Both events demonstrated innovative and impactful practices, including partnerships with public transportation providers, collaborations with environmental NGOs, and creative strategies for sustainable waste management.

Holztechnikum Kuchl from Austria presented their preparations for the upcoming event scheduled for the end of June. They highlighted ongoing environmental initiatives at their institution, such as a food sharing program and cooperation with Protect Our Winters (POW) Austria, underlining their commitment to sustainable campus culture.

All Fit4Green events are co-created by young people and designed to inspire their peers to adopt environmentally conscious habits through sport and physical activity. These efforts feed into the development of a Green Campus Sport Event Concept Catalogue—an open-source resource that will help guide future grassroots sustainability initiatives in sport settings.

The project runs from June 2024 to December 2025 and is co-funded by the European Union under the Preparatory Projects and Pilot Actions (PPPA) in the field of Sport.

The final event of the project will take place in Kuchl, Austria, on 29–30 June, where all partners will meet to celebrate achievements and conclude this inspiring cycle.
