Fit4Green project meeting held in Ljubljana

With the goal of raising environmental awareness through sport and physical activity, the Fit4Green project brings together university sports organisations and educational institutions to promote sustainable practices on campuses.

On October 18, the partners gathered in Ljubljana for the final in-person meeting, which coincided with the Beyond the Finish Line conference - an event connecting two projects, Fit4Green and Runners4All. The gathering also aligned with the European Students Run and the Ljubljana Marathon, both held on October 19.

The Beyond the Finish Line joint conference gathered over 100 participants, linking the outcomes of Fit4Green with those of the Runners4All project, further amplifying their shared goals of promoting healthy, eco-conscious lifestyles through sport.

The meeting, focusing on the project impact, assessment, and dissemination, began with a warm welcome given on behalf of Andrej Pisl and Orsola Tolnay, setting the tone for an engaging and productive event. Participants gathered to reconnect, exchange updates, and prepare for a day focused on reflection, learning, and future planning.

An energizer was also done to reawaken everyone’s focus, encourage teamwork, and create a lively atmosphere before diving into the next sessions.

The morning sessions kicked off with an Impact Assessment, where attendees discussed the outcomes achieved so far and evaluated how the project has influenced communities and individuals.

This was followed by discussing the idea of the Concept Catalogue, highlighting innovative approaches, best practices, and creative ideas developed throughout the project.

Before lunch, the part related ot the  Lessons Learnt offered valuable insights into challenges faced and strategies that proved successful, fostering open discussion and peer learning.

After a well-deserved lunch break, participants returned for the  Administration part,  focusing on finances, reporting, documentation, and coordination across partners.

The afternoon continued with a Sustainability session addressing how project results can be maintained and expanded beyond their official duration. After a short break and photo session, the day concluded with the "Beyond the Finish Line" conference, where key findings and future opportunities were presented to a wider audience.

Overall, the agenda offered a meaningful blend of reflection, planning, and celebration, serving as a fitting conclusion to the project’s final in-person meeting. As partners look ahead, the spirit of collaboration and shared commitment will continue to inspire future initiatives and lasting impact beyond the project’s official end.

Fit4Green is a project coordinated by the EUSA Institute, uniting six partner organisations from Austria, Latvia, Slovenia, Germany, and Sweden. Over the course of 18 months, the partners are working closely together to organise green campus sport events and develop a Green Campus Sport Event Concept Catalogue - an open source tool offering ideas and solutions for future sustainable, grassroots sport events.
