FISU WUC 2020 Seminar in Lausanne

FISU WUC 2020 Seminar in Lausanne

Between May 15 and 17, the International University Sports Federation (FISU) hosted its traditional WUC Seminar in Lausanne, Switzerland. The aim was to prepare the hosts of the 2020 World University Championships and offer them useful information for the events. Over 60 delegates, representing the Organising Committees of 26 WUCs to be staged in 2020 and invited guests were present in Lausanne.

Organized every two years, the seminar seeks to aid in the preparation of the WUC events. This was the first time FISU hosted the seminar in its new headquarters in Lausanne. The three-day seminar started with the basics – on how to structure an Organising Committee and how to manage relationships with stakeholders, building up to details of specific functional areas like media, marketing and protocol.

Participants of the seminar were able to listen to the experienced Organising Committees of the past events, who presented their good practice examples. The 2020 Championships will be organised in Europe, Asia, Americas and Africa and will be inaugural year for the new cluster events – mind sports and combat sports. EUSA is proud to observe that 70% of the events will be organised by its members in Europe, many of them have and will also organise EUSA European Universities Championships and Games.
