The FISU World University Games, formerly known as the Universiades, will be held in 2023 both in the Winter and Summer editions. World University Games are multi-sport events sanctioned by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

In preparation for the Lake Placid 2023 FISU Games, which take place between 12-22 January 12 and 22, the FISU flame began its journey - symbolically on September 20, the International Day of University Sport. The LED flame will travel from Italy, Torino - the birthplace of university sport and the host of the 2025 FISU Winter World University Games, to the United States for the Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games.

Covid-19 pandemics had a big impact also for the FISU and their flagship events, as neither the Winter, nor the Summer editions were able to be held in 2021. With both FISU Games to be held next year, 2023 will be an exciting year for university sport world-wide!
