FISU World Forum 2022 concludes

The 16th FISU World Forum was held in Cartago, Costa Rica and online between December 5 and 9, 2022.

This year the event celebrated 30th anniversary since its inception and the first edition. The main focus and theme of the event was sustainability. Other key topics were also addressed, focusing on gender equality, well-being, good health and reducing inequalities.

At the Opening Ceremony FISU Acting President Mr Leonz Eder highlighted the event as a space for participants to benefit from the many opportunities for exchange, contribute with their experiences, take an active part in all the events and get in touch with each other.

Ms Verena Burk, Chair of FISU’s Education Committee, reminded everyone that sustainable development means meeting the needs of the present in such a way that the opportunities of future generations are not restricted.

The event featured not only many prominent speakers, but also students were actively engaged and presented their ideas and projects linked to the issues discussed during the week. A total of 160 participants from 45 national university sports federations attended the event physically and many more followed it online.

Apart of the educational contents, the participants were also able to enjoy local culture, sights and culinary experience as well as challenge themselves in sports activities. In 2024, the FISU World Forum will take place in Croatia.
