FISU University World Cup Football has begun

FISU University World Cup Football has begun and will last until the 31st of October, hosted by the Chinese city of JinJiang. Teams have arrived, the accreditation formalities have been done and all the equipment has been settled.

The opening ceremony and official start of the FISU University World Cup Football was held on 21st of October, where all the teams and officials were part of the thrilled atmosphere, showcasing the happiness and readiness to showcase their best abilities at the Cup.  

Great march pass and social program were also part of the Opening Ceremony.

FISU held the draw process on 21st of September for both the women and men competitions of the Jinjiang 2023 FISU University World Cup Football at his Headquarters of Lausanne, Switzerland.

12 universities in the men tournament and 8 in the women’s one will compete for the title at the FISU University World Cup in Football.

Two teams, one in the men’s competition, the team of West University of Timisioara and one in the women’s competition, University of Bordeaux, qualified for this Cup, through winning the title of European Champion at the European Universities Games 2022 in Lodz, Poland. Both teams are present and will fight for the title at the FISU University World Cup. The finals are set to take place on 31 October.

The matches will be held in six different venues: Jinjiang Football Training Center (picture), Jinjiang Sports Center, Quanzhou Vocational and Technical University, Quanzhou College of Technology, Yangzheng Middle School, Economic Development Zone.

Competition is already underway, showcasing great sporting abilities, passion on the way to the title and willingness to lift the winning cup at the end of this month. Referees appointed by FIFA have also arrived and will be making the decisions on the field.
