FISU University World Cup 3×3 Basketball 2025 concluded in Brasilia

FISU University World Cup 3X3 Basketball hosted by the city of Brasilia (Brazil) concluded on November 16.
The finals preceded the Closing Ceremony, with emotional awarding moments that brought to a close this great 3x3 Basketball World Cup 2025: a tournament that saw 24 teams representing 17 countries compete for all three days of matches.

Organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) in partnership with the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU), the event delivered intense competition, cultural exchange, and celebration of university sport.

24 university teams from 19 institutions of 17 countries from all continents competed in FISU University World Cup 3x3 Basketball competition.
Among these, 6 university teams represented 4 European institutions of 3 European countries: University of Sevilla (ESP), University of Valencia (ESP), Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (UKR) and Vytautas Magnus University (LTU).

University of Sevilla and Vytautas Magnus University teams qualified for FISU University World Cup 3X3 Basketball, directly from winning EUSA European Universities 3x3 Basketball Championship Salerno 2025, held last summer at the University of Salerno campus in Italy.

Women’s tournament
Carleton University (CAN) rebounded from last year's second-place finish to claim the title this year, defeating Ukraine’s Vasyl Stefanyk University (UKR) 16-11 in the final. The podium celebrated a truly global presence, as Uganda Christian University (UGA) secured the bronze medal, beating Huazhong University of Science and Technology (CHN) 18-15 and ensuring three continents were represented.
Tracy Namugosa (Uganda Christian University) was nominated MVP of the women's tournament.

Men’s tournament
Vytautas Magnus University (LTU) was absolutely dominant throughout the event, winning every single game with a perfect 21 points. The reigning 2025 EUSA EUC and 2025 FISU WUG champions proved their pedigree once again, soaring above the competition and winning their third world title in a row. They gave the home crowd favourite, Paulista University (BRA), no chance, decisively beating them 21-12 despite the deafening support. The bronze medal match saw the University of Melbourne (AUS) prevail over the University of Valencia (ESP) by the same 21-12 score, with the Australians adding yet another continent to the event’s diverse list of podium finishers.
Rokas Jocys (Vytautas Magnus University) was nominated MVP of the men's tournament.

Student-athletes also competed individually in the shootout competition: Lorena Segura Moreno from the University of Valencia and Gabriel Soto from the University of Chile won in their respective categories.
