Chengdu offered a rich accompanying programme

China and Chengdu showed commitment to improve people's lives during the Games. Using some innovative green and smart technologies, the participants across the globe were impressed by the sustainability approaches. For example, the "Low-Carbon Magic Cube" encouraged participants to deposit different recyclable items by rewarding them with points for their contributions. These points could also be used to buy souvenirs and memorabilia. In the FISU Games Village buses powered by clean(er) energy were transporting athletes from around the world between their residences and competition venues. At the restaurant there was also a robot preparing beverages according to customer's preferences and serving them with precision. These are just a few examples of the measures and actions that were adopted in Chengdu towards the before-mentioned goals.

Closing venue

This was the third time in the history of China hosting the summer edition of the FISU World University Games, formerly known as Universiades. In 2001 they were held in Beijing, in 2011 in Shenzhen and now in 2023 after the Covid-19 pandemic in Chengdu. The 32nd edition of the FISU Summer World University Games will be held in the Rhine-Ruhr region in Germany from 16-27 July, 2025.
