FISU America Forum held in Colombia

On June 1-3, the 4th edition of FISU America Forum took place in Cali, Colombia. The event was attended by more than 250 virtual and face-to-face attendees. Over the period of the event, 41 different speakers addressed the participants, focusing on the overarching theme University Sports for All.

The event was organised by FISU America, with the support of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), and hosted by ASCUN Colombia (Association of Colombian Universities), in cooperation with the Javeriana University of Cali.

Opening of the Forum

The opening included the welcome addresses by FISU America President Mr Alim Maluf Neto and FISU Acting President Mr Leonz Eder, as well as a cultural programme.

Various topics were then addressed over the course of 3 days in a hybrid way, starting with the opportunities offered by FISU in terms of World University Games, World University Championships and Cups. A roundtable was held with National University Sports Federations, sharing their experiences and challenges.

On day two, the focus was on physical education and activities in universities, including presentations on wellness from physical, mental and emotional standpoints. Dual careers were then discussed with FISU Acting President Mr Eder, President of Brazilian Confederation of University Sports Mr Luciano Cabral and FISU Executive Committee member and founder of the Argentine University Sports Federation Mr Emiliano Ojea.

The third and final day of the FISU America Forum focused on sustainable sporting events, legacy of university sports, volunteering and upcoming FISU America's events.
