First General Technical Meetings warm up atmosphere for the EUG2018

First competitions at the European Universities Games in Coimbra are only a day away and General Technical Meetings for Badminton, Table Tennis, Handball and Volleyball were held in the university stadium complex in Coimbra on July 13. All athletes were introduced with the rules and regulations, as well as all the necessary information, and the official draws were made.

At the beginning of every GTM all representatives heard the opening speech by Mr Mario Santos, General Secretary of the Organizing Committee, after which EUSA Sports Director Mr Besim Aliti and OC Sports Director Ms Filipa Godinho introduced all representatives with all necessary information about the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the European Universities Games 2018 (EUG18).

General Technical Meeting for Badminton was the sport that opened the day in university sports complex with the representatives of all 20 Universities that will take place at the badminton event.

Team lead by EUSA Executive Committee member Mr Kemal Tamer as the Chair of the Competition Commission for Badminton, with EUSA Technical Delegate Mr Erik Ligtvoet, Assistant Technical Delegate Ms Isabel Jobard and National Technical Delegate Mr Antonio Mendes presented rules and regulations of the tournament and the draw was made. Shortly after the badminton we had the time to meet representatives of Universities that will compete in the Table Tennis competition. A total of 12 women’s and 17 men’s teams will participate in the event.

Chair of the Competition Commission for Table Tennis Mr Andrzej Hrehorowicz, EUSA Technical Delegate Mr Matija Krnc, Assistant Technical Delegate Ms Ekaterina Ovsiannikova and National Technical Delegate Mr Sergio Castanheira,  introduced to the representatives the system of the competition, along with the rules and regulations, and a draw has been made.

Third General Technical Meeting included the representatives from 23 Universities and 11 different countries. Total of 14 men and 12 women teams will take part in the competition.

EUSA Executive Committee member Mr Aitor Canibe Sanchez as the Chair of the Competition Commission for Handball, EUSA Technical Delegate Ms Carmen Manchado Lopez, Assistant Technical Delegate Mr Pablo Permuy and the National Technical Delegate Mr Pedro Segeuira, together with EHF referee commission member Mr Jiri Konecny presented the rules and made the draw.We are honoured with a fact that EUG will be again a part of EHF Young Referees programme.

Last GTM on the schedule was volleyball that included representatives from 32 teams that will compete in men and women competition, 16 in men´s and 16 women´s competition.

Chair of the Competition Commission Mr Razis Panos as the for Volleyball, EUSA Technical Delegate Mr Joerg Foerster, Assistant Technical Delegate Mr Lars Rydland and the National Technical Delegate Mr Leonel Salgueira presented the rules and regulations of the competition and made the draw.

Present at the GTMs were also EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek, along with EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, Supervision Commission Chair Mr Haris Pavletic, Supervision Commission members Mr Aitor Canive Sanchez and Mr Dmitry Kiselev, as well as EUSA Executive Committee member Mr Bill Thompson, and other representatives.
