First ever EUC Padel concluded in Coimbra

The first-ever European Universities Padel Championship has finally concluded on August 1, 2025, in Coimbra, Portugal, with an exciting Closing Ceremony at Star Padel Venue.

The ceremony brought together athletes, volunteers, organisers, and fans in a joyful celebration of achievement, friendship, and sporting excellence.
Over 48 participants from 19 Universities from 8 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event, representing the first appearance of Padel in EUSA programme and in the Championships calendar since 2001.

This diverse representation made the Championship a true display of European unity through sport, with numerous languages, cultures, and traditions converging on one stage.

In the men’s finals, the title of champion went to the University of Barcelona (ESP), whose team won a thrilling final match against Abat Oliba CEU University (ESP). The third place went to the University of Seville (ESP), completing an all-Spanish podium.

In the women’s finals, the title of champion went to the University of Seville (ESP), whose team won an exciting final match against the University of Cologne (GER). The third place went to the University of Porto (POR).

Both matches delivered intense competition, loud crowds, and emotional moments, creating memories that will last a lifetime for players and spectators alike.

The medals and awards were presented by EUSA representative Liviu Matac; EUSA Assistant Technical Delegate for Padel Ines Carvalho; Ricardo Nora, President of FADU; Rector of the University of Coimbra Joao Gabriel Silva; Carlos Magalhaes, President of the Organising Committee; and Carina Duarte, Secretary General of the event.

Throughout the Championship, the competition was marked not only by top-level performance but also by strong values of sportsmanship, cultural exchange, and mutual respect.

The dedicated volunteer team of over 25 local and 6 international students played a key role in ensuring that the event ran smoothly from start to finish.
Audiences also enjoyed cultural side events, local hospitality, and the celebratory spirit that surrounded the city during the Championship.
From stunning comebacks to new records and surprise victories, this year's edition brought countless unforgettable moments both on and off the field.

For the ceremony conclusion, the EUSA flag was passed to Universidad Camilo José Cela of Madrid, Spain, which will host the next and second edition of the Championship, foreseen for summer 2027.
This symbolic moment marked the official end of this year's great event and passed on the responsibility and excitement to the next host city.

All teams are warmly welcomed to join the next EUSA Padel competition, as the sport is present in the programme of next year's European Universities Games in Salerno, Italy.
