First 2019 European Universities Championship draws to a close

The terrace of Antequera Hotel was the backdrop for the Closing Ceremony of European Universities Golf Championship, as the first European University Championship of 2019 officially drew to a close in Antequera, Spain.

With participants from 10 different universities from 6 different countries battling it out in both the male and female categories over four days of thrilling golf, the final day’s action proved decisive as the tournament’s podium finishes were confirmed.

It was a clean sweep for the University of Stirling in the men’s individual category, where Jordan Sundborg claimed gold as he carded 288, seven strokes ahead of teammate Colin Edgar in second as Mark Napier, also from the University of Stirling, took the bronze medal. Stirling naturally claimed overall gold in the men’s team tournament, with University of Malaga in second and University of Navarra third.

University of Malaga’s Esperanza Serrano carded 294 over her four rounds to claim gold in the individual women’s category, closely followed by Camille Tremoulet from the University of Toulouse 1 Capitole who bagged the silver medal, while Noemi Carpinelli of the Swiss University of St. Gallen came third.
