Final week to submit FISU award entries

The deadline to submit entries for the 2021 FISU Gender Equality Awards is now exactly one week away, with Continental and National University Sports Associations encouraged to get in their nominations by the July 15 cut-off.

FISU have this year announced two awards in this category: the FISU Gender Equality Project Award and the FISU Gender Equality Champion Award, which are both designed to recognise organisations and individuals in their efforts to advance and achieve gender equality in university sports.

"The Gender Equality Awards are an incredible opportunity for NUSFs and CUSFs to showcase and be recognised for their work in advancing gender equality in university sport,” FISU Gender Equality Committee Vice Chair Mr Adam Pratchett said. “I'd strongly encourage federations who are considering submitting last minute nominations to do so. You never know, the project might be stronger than you think and you might end up winning!"

The prize for the Project Award is a grant of up to 5 000€ from FISU to support the continuation and development of the project, and the winner of the Champion Award will be invited to be a speaker at future FISU events.

Continental and national federations are permitted to submit an unlimited number of nominations for the Project Award, but only one nomination each for the Champion Award.

"We've been delighted by the number of nominations already submitted by NUSFs and CUSFs,” Mr Pratchett said. “I'd strongly encourage those who haven't submitted a nomination to do so by 15 July!"

Nominations for either award must be submitted to the FISU Gender Equality Committee via education@fisu.net, according to the instructions given in the General Rules and Regulations, and using the official Nomination Form no later than 15 July 2021.

A pre-selection Jury composed of FISU Gender Equality Committee and Gender Equality Working Group members will review the nominations and propose a shortlist.

The winners of the FISU Gender Equality Project Award and FISU Gender Equality Champion Award will be announced at the FISU General Assembly 2021 in Chengdu, China.
