Final Preparations for EUG 2026 Salerno
The European University Sports Association (EUSA) continues its preparations for the upcoming European Universities Games 2026 with visits to Salerno from April 10 to 12 and from April 20 to 22. The time spent on site brought together EUSA Representatives and EUSA Technical Delegates to assess operational readiness, review sports venues, and coordinate key aspects of event delivery.
The EUSA delegation included EUSA Director Sports Events Liam Smith and Sports Manager Miha Zvan; alongside Technical Delegates Pascale Weiwers (Basketball), Urmo Sitsi (Handball), Tomasz Aftanski (Futsal), Marcin Fidala (Table Tennis); Technical Expert Raquel Mascarenhas (Padel), Furki Sports Results Management Supervisor Marin Furcic.
Over the course of the two visits, the groups worked closely with local organisers and technical staff to ensure that preparations were progressing in line with EUSA standards.

These visits began with an initial group of site visits and meetings held starting on April 10 and involving specific inspections and plans for the basketball and handball competitions.
The second part began on April 20 with a dedicated meeting on results management, a critical component in ensuring the smooth running of competitions. In the afternoon, initial inspections of sports venues were conducted, with particular focus on scoreboard systems across competition halls.

The visits concluded with April 22 departures, marking another important milestone in the lead-up to the Games.
The inspections provided valuable insights into the current state of readiness and allowed for targeted follow-up actions to ensure optimal conditions for participants.

With each preparatory step, EUSA and the local Organising Committee continue to strengthen their collaboration, working towards the successful delivery of the European Universities Games 2026 in Salerno.
The next checkpoint and milestone event before the Games will be the EUG 2026 NUSA Coordination Meeting, on May 12-13.
