Executive Board changes in Swiss University Sports

At its recent delegates’ assembly held in Ittigen near Bern on 18 March 2026, Swiss University Sports took important decisions shaping the future leadership and strategic direction of the organisation.

The meeting marked a transition period, with several long-standing board members stepping down and new representatives being elected.

After years of service, Co-President Lorenz Ursprung, Vice-President Martina van Berkel-Schwarz, and Student Representative Elias Hardmeier concluded their mandates. Their contributions were recognised as instrumental in advancing Swiss university sport, particularly in strengthening governance and guiding strategic development. In acknowledgement of his long-term impact, Lorenz Ursprung was appointed an honorary member of Swiss University Sports.

The assembly also introduced new leadership to the Executive Board. Reto Zimmermann was elected as Co-President, while Maxime Beguin joined as an athlete representative and Elena Hafliger as a student representative, ensuring continued inclusion of key stakeholder perspectives in decision-making.

Continuity within the organisation is maintained through several reappointments, with Daniel Studer remaining Co-President.

Alongside personnel changes, delegates were presented with the federation’s new strategic framework, outlining priorities for the coming years. The organisation reaffirmed its focus on strengthening national university sport while maintaining an active presence in international competitions, including FISU events, the European Universities Games, and World University Championships.

The assembly also approved the budget and semester fees for 2026, completing a comprehensive agenda that positions Swiss University Sports for its next phase of development.
