EUC Football 2019
European Universities Football Championship

Madrid, Spain
July 20-27, 2019

Over 600 participants representing 32 Universities from 16 countries took part in the 13th edition of European Universities Football Championship held in Madrid, Spain.

The event was hosted by University Camilo Jose Cela in conjunction with the Spanish University Sport Committee with the collaboration of the municipality of Boadilla del Monte.

EUSA was represented at the championship by EUSA Vice President Mr Haris Pavletic, EUSA Honorary Member Mr Filipe Santos, Football Technical Delegate Mr Andreas Demetriou and Assistant Technical Delegate Ms Ourania Foskolou.

In men’s finals, the title of champion went to Russia’s Kuban State University who won a thrilling final match against Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatyuk National Pedagogical University from Ukraine, with the final scoreline reading 4-2 to the Russians.

EUC Football 2019 women's action

Portugal’s Coimbra University were crowned champions in the women’s competition, beating German rivals Frankfurt University 2-1 in a closely-fought encounter.

The Fair Play Trophy in the women’s competition was awarded to Frankfurt University, while German compatriots Karlsruhe Institute of Technology claimed the men’s Fair Pay Trophy.

Yana Malakhova from Ukraine’s Kharkiv State Academy was handed the women’s Top Scorer prize, with Thomas Alvares from France’s Université d’Orléans top-scoring in the men’s competition.

The Best Goalkeeper Award was given to Sina Autino from Switzerland’s University of Basel among the women participants, while Erik Eire Jor de Sogn from Norway’s Fjordane University College claimed the same accolade in the men’s competition.

EUC 2019 Football men's winners

The Most Valued Player among women went to Frankfurt University’s Saskia Matheis while the men’s MVP prize went to Tavakkyul Mamedov from Kuban State University.

The next European Universities Football Championship will take place in Tirana, Albania in 2021, but not before this year’s football competition at the fifth edition of the European Universities Games in Belgrade, Serbia.
