EUYouSport featured in European Study on Youth Participation

The EUYouSport project has been recognised as part of good practice examples in the newly published report “Fostering Youth Participation Through Cross-Sectoral Practices.”

The report was developed within the New Power in Youth Strategic Partnership (NPiY SNAC), a collaboration between National Agencies for Erasmus+, European Solidarity Corps and SALTO Resource Centres.

The study presents 18 inspiring initiatives from across Europe that successfully promote youth participation through cross-sectoral cooperation. EUYouSport was referred to as an example of Erasmus+ European Youth Together call project lead by ENGSO Youth, as a strong example of how sport organisations can contribute to empowering young people and strengthening their role in governance and decision-making processes.

The report provides a comprehensive overview of trends, challenges, and innovative approaches to youth participation, particularly in partnerships connecting youth, school education, adult learning, and vocational education sectors. It also identifies nine clusters of recommendations aimed at supporting organisations and practitioners in replicating successful models of youth engagement across Europe.

EUYouSport inclusion in the study recognises its efforts and contribution to advancing youth participation in sport governance and highlights sport’s growing role in youth empowerment and cross-sectoral cooperation.

As part of these efforts, the EUYouSport survey on youth participation in sport governance was launched in January 2026, and it is still underway. The survey seeks to better understand how young people aged 18 to 30 are involved in decision-making processes within sports organisations, the challenges they encounter, and the opportunities to further empower their voices. Its findings are expected to support the identification of current practices, gaps and concrete strategies for strengthening youth engagement across the European sport sector.

Sports clubs, associations, NGOs, federations and public authorities active in sport across Europe are still invited to take part in the survey and contribute to this important mapping exercise. The questionnaire takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and will help build a clearer picture of youth participation mechanisms and future development opportunities in sport governance. The survey is open until end of April 2026.
