EUSA visits University of Malaga

At the occasion of the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees in Marbella, EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek and Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik visited the University of Malaga (UMA) on November 10, 2018.

University of Malaga is known as one of the most successful organisers of both EUSA and FISU events, with five European and five World University Championships held in the last 10 years. Besides European Universities Championships in Golf (2009), Beach-Volleyball (2011), Futsal (2013) and Handball (2017); University of Malaga will in 2019 organize also the European Universities Golf Championship in Antequera.

Mr Pedro Montiel

Director of the Sports Department of the University of Málaga Mr Pedro Montiel presented to EUSA representatives the structure and activities of the Sport Department at the UMA. “For Malaga University, offering an extensive range of complementary activities which contribute to the integral development of students is just as important as offering quality education,” explained Mr Montiel. UMA offers students over one hundred sports activities, carried out mostly at the University Sports Centre. Together with Mr Montiel and Mr Jose Eloy Cano Escarcena, Head of Competitions and Promotion, EUSA representatives had an opportunity to visit the Sports Centre, which is magnificently equipped in order to allow the practice of all kinds of sports in the optimum conditions.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the collaboration between EUSA and UMA in the field of organisation of EUSA sport events in the future, as well as explored the opportunities for collaboration in the field of education.

The registration for the European Universities Championships 2019, including the Golf one, will open on December 1, 2018.
