EUSA Supervision Commission visits Belgrade before registration starts

Eight months ahead of the European Universities Games Belgrade 2020, Supervision Commission of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) visited the Serbian capital.

The EUSA Supervision Commission was chaired by Mr Kemal Tamer, EUSA Vice-President, joint by Vice-President Mr Haris Pavletic, Executive Committee member Mr Milan Zvan and Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik. They were accompanied by EUSA office staff Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti, Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl, Educations and Development Manager Ms Sara Rozman and Assistant Sports Manager Mr Liam Smith.

On behalf of the hosts, the meeting was lead by Mr General Director Mr Predrag Juskovic, Deputy Difrector Ms Anita Dobre and Project Manager Mr Dragan Atanasov, and they were joined by Directors and representatives of all departments.

SVC meeting

Before the official start of the meeting, EUSA Sports Manager and Assistant Sports Manager visited the venues and facilities that will be used for competitions during the Games in Belgrade. During the main part of the meeting on November 7 and 8, general progress has been made, and the Commission members were presented detailed progress for the last period by each department. EUG2020 together with EUSA is working hard together, in order to assure best conditions for student athletes who will be representing their universities from all over Europe in the summer of 2020 in Belgrade.

EUG2020 Director Mr Juskovic pointed out a good partnership with EUSA: “I am very glad that we have been together again and that we will intensify cooperation in the upcoming period. Our common goal is to organize EUG2020 in the best possible way. We want to have the most successful event in the history of EUSA. In the recent period, the Board for the organization of the fifth European Universities Games was constituted with Prime Minister Ms Ana Brnabic at the helm, which is guarantee that all state institutions will work closely in the organization.”

The Chairman of Supervision Commission, Mr Tamer, praised all the efforts made by organizing team: “When we talk about Serbia, we knew about experienced organizers of prestigious sports events, so we hope that EUG2020 will be one of the best until now. We always enjoy in Belgrade. We wanted to see what is done in the past five months and I can add that we are satisfied. Our common goal is to have successful Games which will be an example for the future.”

Representatives of the local hosts and EUSA also attended a EuroLeague basketball match in Stark Arena, which will be used for the Opening ceremony of the Games next summer.

The 5th European Universities Games 2020 will be held between July 12-25 in Belgrade, offering 21 sports, as well as educational and cultural programme. Registration opens on December 1 through the national university sports bodies in Europe.
